Navajo Tribal Park, Monument Valley, AZ A Navajo guide took me into the back country of Monument Valley to the distinctive totem pole for sunrise. It was very cloudy and it didn't seem like there would be any color in the sky. There must have been a short break in sky on the eastern horizon because for a few minutes the sky lit up in a palette of colors before turning back to putty gray. It was such a fleetingly beautiful way to greet the new day.
