Badwater Basin, Death Valley National Park, CA In Feb 2016, Death Valley experienced a rare "super bloom" of wildflowers. The rains brought by the El Niño triggered seeds that have been lying dormant for years creating a carpet of color across an otherwise desolate landscape. This photo of Desert Gold Poppies was taken in the southern part of Badwater Basin.
