Desert Bloom 1

Badwater Basin, Death Valley National Park, CA
In Feb 2016, Death Valley experienced a rare "super bloom" of wildflowers. The rains brought by the El Niño triggered seeds that have been lying dormant for years creating a carpet of color across an otherwise desolate landscape. This photo of Desert Gold Poppies was taken in the southern part of Badwater Basin.

Field Notes: Canon 5DS-R, EF 24-105mm f/4L, 47mm, f/11, 1/800 sec, ISO 400
